STEM park on Klobučarić Square and STEM laboratory on Korzo 2A have been equipped through STEM(AJMO!) project which was jointly implemented by Centre of Technical Culture Rijeka and its partners: Višnjan Astronomical Society, Center for Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity, Connect IT – association for development of information and communication technologies, University of Rijeka – Faculty of Informatics and Digital Technologies, City of Rijeka, Međimurje IT club Čakovec, Faculty of Mathematics – University of Rijeka, Faculty of Engineering Rijeka, Association of technical culture of Zadar County, Association of technical culture Karlovac and Association of technical culture of the city of Split.
City of Rijeka, Faculty of Mathematics – University of Rijeka, Višnjan Astronomical Society and Centre of Technical Culture Rijeka have jointly developed and created contents which aim to increase interest of children and young people towards STEM area and built and equipped two new locations for implementation of field education in STEM, development of creativity and scientific thought and learning through play. The park is aimed at the youngest citizens of Rijeka and their parents, and its elements allow the implementation of many activities that contribute to the research of STEM in a fun way. STEM lab has been equipped with interactive stations that introduce the young to the world of science and encourage, in a fun, exploratory way, different ways of supplementing educational content from the field of STEM. While spending time in these new locations in Rijeka, our youngest citizens will be able to learn new, interesting information related to STEM area and, in that way, be acquainted with the advantages of STEM careers from the earliest age.
STEM(AJMO!) project is implemented with the financial support from the European Social Fund, OP Efficient Human Resources 2014 – 2020. By the Act of the Office for Cooperation with NGOs of the Government of the Republic of Croatia the project was awarded 2.891.292,10 HRK, out of which 2.457.598,29 HRK is ensured from the European funds, and 433.693,82 HRK from the budget of the Republic of Croatia. 307.750,00 HRK was awarded from the City of Rijeka’s budget, , out of that 231.500,00 HRK from the Department of Sports and Technical Culture, and 76.250,00 HRK from the Department for Development, Urbanism, Ecology and Land Management. Design office Urbanistički studio Rijeka d.o.o. developed the final layout of the locations. Park equipment was built by Park-Life d.o.o. from Ivanić-Grad, and building works were executed by Barić gradnja d.o.o.
